TAKE OVER

BACKGROUND

My History is that I am a Munroeist and long distance walker. Ever since I moved into the area I had always thought of walking the North Coast.

I had a reason last year, to raise funds to purchase a Portable Oxygen Concentrator to help people at home instead of using the cumbersome big oxygen tanks. Whilst on the walk it was decided to train some nurses in the treatment of COPD etc.

I started in May 2014 and by using a GPX device saved the route of which I logged with Walking World. Due to the massive generousity of the people the sum of over £3000 was raised and various Charity's etc were given funds and the Nurse Training was started, the results should be known in January 2016.

HISTORY

The Caithness Waybaggers started to build the Way back in 1992 but unfortunately there wasn't any backing.

It was then taken over by a group of local business's but again it failed.

The North Highland Way is now being administered by myself Ian Ellis, of Castletown.

I hope it will become a national route.

If you are interested in assisting in anyway I would be very grateful.
